“Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson is one of the most memorable songs from his Bad 25 album in September 1987. This Pop-Rock is one of the top highlight songs on the tracklist.

Musically speaking, the rhythm is more harmonic, where the intro and verse alternate between two chords per measure, and the next bases are more than one chord every two measures. This creates a kind of “stop and go” feeling.

According to Jackson’s lyrics, the singer takes the inspiration factor from his debut album to a different level on this track about changing society: for example, “I’m gonna make a change, For once in my life, It’s gonna feel real good, Gonna make a difference, Gonna make it right” in the verses and a repeated of Stand up and lift Yourself, now (Man in the mirror, Gonna make that change come on, (Man in the mirror) in the outro.  These lyrics are more of a powerful and inspirational level that is presented towards the readers.“Man in the mirror” is the kind of track that hooks you on the first second of the song, but it’s also Micheal Jackson himself that really inspires and hooks the listeners.
